Long before spreadsheets and Cardmarket listings, there was a kid with every Pokémon game on Game Boy and Nintendo 64, a shoebox holding a few thousand cards, and a schoolyard where trades happened on a handshake and a good poker face. Looking back, some of those trades were terrible business — and all of them were unforgettable.
That feeling faded for a while, the way these things do. Then, somewhere along the way, it came back — hard. The same pull toward the art, the same excitement of finding a card you didn’t know you needed. This time it led to Magic: The Gathering, a game with one of the richest visual histories in trading card games, and it’s where CardCat began.
We’re still learning the deeper strategy and competitive side of MTG, and we’re happy to say that out loud rather than pretend otherwise. What we don’t compromise on, and never will, is how we treat the cards and the people buying them: honest condition grading using the Cardmarket EU standard, transparent pricing, and real, personal answers whenever you reach out with a question.
We’re based in Denmark, and we like to think that shows in how we operate — a preference for doing things simply, properly, and without unnecessary friction. It’s less about being Danish for its own sake, and more about the values that tend to come with it: quality over quantity, honesty over hype, and genuine respect for the people we do business with.
Because we care about variety and aesthetics as much as raw market value, we try to stock a broader range of Magic: The Gathering singles and sealed product than most sellers — not just the competitively “playable” staples, but the prints and frames that people actually fall in love with. As we grow, both in experience and in offering, we’d like to bring that same range and care to other trading card games too.
